4-Azidosalicylic acid can be used to install the arylazido group that can both undergo a radioiodination and subsequently be transformed to reactive nitrene by irradiation with short wavelenghts (250 nm). The in-situ generated nitrene reactive intermediate is highly reactive and immediately gets captured by surrounding nucleophiles.
